
At an official ceremony at the National Palace of Culture, 188 graduates from the Class of 2025 of the Faculty of Dental Medicine at the Medical University of Sofia received their diplomas. 112 of them completed their studies in Bulgarian, and 76 in English. There are 13 honors in total.
Guests at the ceremony were President Rumen Radev, the Rector of the Medical University – Sofia, Prof. Dr. Boycho Landzhov, MD, deans of partner universities, the academic leadership of MU-Sofia, deans of faculties, directors of units and heads of departments at MU-Sofia.
The ceremony was led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mirela Takorova-Marinova, Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs. After her opening remarks, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Boyko Bonev, welcomed the graduates and reminded them that during the years of study, “personal successes and difficulties have made you stronger and more confident in yourself. You have coped and I hope you have realized that this is life – conquering one peak leads to other goals.”
Rector Prof. Landzhov addressed the young doctors with the following appeal: “You are not only the new doctors of dental medicine, but also the face of our Alma Mater. Wear the title “Graduate of MU-Sofia” with pride, responsibility and dignity, because it is a symbol of high academic standards, professionalism and high morality.”
He emphasized that in today’s era of rapid technological progress and numerous social challenges, they should not forget to put the person at the center of their work – their health and trust in the doctor.
“You have the honor of transforming healthcare to higher standards, of building modern healthcare at the European level,” President Radev told the graduates.
He also emphasized that “the changes undertaken in recent years are beginning to make your work more attractive, to create better conditions for your professional realization.”
The course supervisor of the graduating class, Prof. Dr. Mariana Gabrovska, addressed words of encouragement to the young doctors, after which the graduates with the highest success rate from the graduating class – Dr. Ilkan Seidov and Dr. Julian Völler also congratulated their colleagues and received their diplomas personally from the Rector of MU-Sofia, Prof. Landzhov.
The diplomas of the 13 excellent students were accompanied by honorary certificates and cash prizes worth 1,000 BGN, provided by the Student Council of MU-Sofia.
